All-New Tata Altroz Gets Feature Upgrades and New Variants

Tata Altroz Racer

In the ever-growing compact SUV segment, high-end sedans remain a compelling choice. But for those eyeing the 2024 Tata Altroz, some key changes are in store. Inspired by the upcoming Altroz Racer, Tata is introducing feature-packed LUX variants and a revised trim structure. While the 2024 Altroz boasts a larger touchscreen, 360-degree camera, and potentially more, it also loses the popular 110hp i-Turbo option. Let’s delve into the details of the refreshed Altroz, exploring its feature additions, variant changes, and powertrain updates.

High-end sedans are a good option for buyers who don’t want a sub-4m SUV. Competitors in this segment include Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza, and Hyundai i20. Tata seems to be aiming for a larger market share and is introducing the MY24 Altroz. Kudos to Motor Arena for sharing an exclusive update.

2024 Tata Altroz Updated

Just yesterday, the brochure of Altroz Racer was leaked and now it’s the turn of the updated 2024 Altroz. The updates for MY24 include additional features, new variants, and some adjustments, including the complete removal of one powertrain combination.

Firstly, the updates of the 2024 Tata Altroz are mainly inspired by the upcoming Altroz Racer. To incorporate these updates, Tata has introduced four new trim levels with the LUX suffix. These include the XZ LUX, XZ+ S LUX, and XZ+ S LUX Dark. The name of the fourth trim level was not mentioned in the presentation. We would bet on XZ LUX Dark.

The color palette of the 2024 Altroz includes Avenue White, Arcade Grey, Opera Blue, Downtown Red, and Cosmo Dark. According to the leaked brochure, only the LUX variants will get the additional features of the 2024 Tata Altroz such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen system and a 360-degree camera. This new infotainment display supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly and is paired with 8 Harman speakers.

A 7-inch TFT instrument cluster from other mid-range variants of other Tata cars is also derived from the Altroz Racer. While the XZ LUX does not get this feature, the XZ+ S and XZ+S LUX trim levels do. It is worth noting that the XZ+ S is not an upgrade over the XZ LUX and hence does not get a 10-inch infotainment display, while the XZ LUX does not get a 7-inch instrument display.

The XZ+S LUX is equipped with 6 airbags. In case you’re wondering, the Altroz is offering 6 airbags for the first time. We would have liked Tata to offer 6 airbags as standard, but it doesn’t. Only the top-of-the-range XZ+ S LUX model gets them. If you want an iRA telematics suite and an air purifier, the XZ+ OS is the only variant that’s an upgrade over the XZ+ S LUX.

Discontinued i-Turbo variants

However, we would have liked Tata to offer ventilated seats on the 2024 Altroz, but this feature is reserved only for the sportier Altroz Racer. The voice-activated sunroof and other previous features remain unchanged. However, it’s not all sunshine and roses, and there are a few deletions as well compared to the 2024 Altroz. Firstly, Tata has discontinued the Altroz i-CNG Dark Edition. Also, the leatherette seats have been removed on all variants of the 2024 Altroz except the Altroz Racer.

As for the powertrains, Tata has done a major overhaul and discontinued all the 110hp i-Turbo variants. If you want a turbocharged Altroz, you’ll have to buy the Altroz Racer. This is similar to Hyundai’s strategy with the i20 N Line. The Altroz (not the Racer) now gets 3 powertrain options – 1.2L NA Petrol (88 hp, 115 Nm, 5MT, 6DCA), 1.2 L NA i-CNG (73.5 hp, 103 Nm, 5MT) and 1.5 L Diesel (90 hp, 200 Nm, 5MT). The market launch is expected to happen in the next few days, and one can expect a slight price hike for the revised variants.
