After months of anticipation, the all-new Renault Duster has finally made its global debut. Turkey has been chosen as the launchpad for this revamped SUV, with Renault’s Turkish plant serving as the primary production hub. While sharing its DNA with the Dacia Duster, the Renault version boasts distinct styling and a richer feature set.
A Fresh Look
The new Renault Duster sets itself apart from its Dacia sibling with a unique front fascia. The prominent Renault badge replaces the diamond logo, and the grille design has been refined. Despite these visual changes, the overall dimensions remain largely identical, with both models measuring 4,343 mm in length and sharing a 2,658 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance for both versions falls within the 209 to 217 mm range.
Premium Features Inside and Out
Turkish buyers have two trim levels to choose from: Evolution and Techno. Even the base Evolution model comes equipped with 17-inch wheels, LED lights, and a modern cabin featuring a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Safety is a priority, with features like front and side airbags, curtain airbags, rearview camera, automatic braking, cruise control, and lane departure warning.
The top-tier Techno trim adds fog lights, four-wheel disc brakes, automatic headlights, automatic climate control, and wireless charging. Customers can further enhance their Duster with optional extras such as 18-inch wheels, blind spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera, heated steering wheel and seats, and ambient lighting.
Powertrain Options
Under the hood, the Renault Duster shares its powertrain options with the Dacia model. The entry-level engine is a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder TCe LPG unit, offering 100 hp and driving the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. For those seeking electrification, there’s a front-wheel-drive E-Tech hybrid combining a 1.6-liter petrol engine with an electric motor for a total output of 145 hp.
A third option is a mild hybrid setup featuring a 1.2-liter TCe turbo petrol engine and a 48-volt starter-generator, delivering 130 hp. This powertrain is exclusively paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and all-wheel drive. Notably, diesel engines are absent from the new Duster lineup.
Pricing and India Launch
The base 1.0 TCe LPG Renault Duster is priced at 1,249,000 Turkish liras (approximately Rs 32 lakh), while the E-Tech hybrid starts at 1,530,000 liras (around Rs 39 lakh). The range-topping mild hybrid all-wheel-drive variant is available from 1,580,000 liras (roughly Rs 40 lakh).
While the new Duster has captured attention globally, Indian enthusiasts eagerly await its arrival. Renault is expected to introduce the model in India in 2025, though with potential modifications to suit local preferences and regulations. The new Duster is poised to challenge established players in the competitive compact SUV segment.
