2024 MG Astor Facelift Breaks Cover: What’s New Inside and Out

2024 MG Astor Facelift

After signing an alliance with JSW Group, MG Motor India appears to be planning to introduce the facelifted version of the Astor in the domestic market. The mid-range SUV is currently one of the most well-rounded models in its segment and is also competitively priced. The facelift will be part of the five-seater’s mid-cycle refresh, which was first revealed in October 2021.

Leaked online ahead of its imminent launch, the 2024 MG Astor receives numerous updates inside and out. The equipment list also becomes more premium with the inclusion of new features and technologies.

The Astor facelift gets a new front end with sharper LED headlights and daytime running lights. The grill area has also been redesigned for a refreshed look, with a diamond-patterned surface that complements the overall elegant aesthetic. Leaked images also reveal a sportier front bumper section featuring large vertical air intakes, pentagonal housings, and horizontal blue moldings that accentuate the headlights.

The side profile includes blacked-out exterior mirrors and pillars, along with silver functional roof rails. Other highlights include redesigned two-tone alloy wheels, new skid plates, wraparound LED taillights, an updated rear bumper, an integrated spoiler with a high-mounted brake light, and a rear fin antenna.

The interior features a black theme with white accents on the door panels and seats. A flat-bottom three-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls complements the revised dashboard and a new central control element featuring a dual screen setup. A new gear selector, a wireless smartphone charger, and an electronic parking brake (EPB) are also included.

It will continue to compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Honda Elevate, and is expected to maintain an aggressive pricing strategy like the previous model.

In terms of performance, the 2024 MG Astor will likely retain the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, but could come with upgraded hybrid technology for improved fuel economy. Transmission options are expected to include a five-speed manual, a CVT, and a six-speed automatic torque converter.
