The Kia Carnival Limousine has made a roaring start in India, securing an impressive 1,822 pre-orders within the first 24 hours of bookings opening. This surpasses the previous generation’s record of 1,410 bookings on its launch day.
The fourth-generation Carnival, set to launch on October 3, is a major departure from its predecessor. It will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) initially, with an expected price tag exceeding Rs. 55 lakh (ex-showroom).
Key Features and Upgrades
The Carnival Limousine comes packed with premium features, including:
- Second-row powered seats with ventilation and leg support
- One-touch power sliding doors
- Large dual-pane sunroof
- 12-speaker Bose audio system
- Dual panoramic curved display with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch instrument console
- ADAS Level 2 with 23 autonomous features
Engine and Performance
The Carnival will continue to be powered by the familiar 2.2L four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. It delivers a maximum power of 200 PS and a peak torque of 440 Nm. While hybrid options are available in global markets, the India-spec version will stick to the diesel mill paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Strong Market Response
The overwhelming response to the Carnival Limousine is a testament to Kia’s strong brand presence and the appeal of the MPV segment in India. The previous generation Carnival achieved a total of 14,542 unit sales over its three-year run, demonstrating the demand for such vehicles.
Joonsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, expressed his delight at the initial reception: “This is a proud moment for us, with the new Carnival setting new standards. We are confident the Carnival Limousine will redefine the segment. With its distinctive design, luxurious features, and segment-first technologies, the Carnival continues to push industry benchmarks.”
As the launch date approaches, the Kia Carnival Limousine is poised to make a significant impact on the Indian automotive market, offering a blend of luxury, comfort, and advanced technology.
