Royal Enfield is gearing up to introduce its new retro roadster bike, the “Guerrilla 450,” to compete with the likes of KTM 390 Adventure and Triumph Scrambler 400 X. With Triumph and KTM already making their mark in the roadster bike market, there’s been a significant surge of interest in Royal Enfield crafting such bikes. According to a report by Car and Bike, the company trademarked the name “Guerrilla 450” as early as August 28, 2023, and could unveil it anytime between July and August 2024. However, there’s speculation that Royal Enfield might launch its new bike during the festive season.
Platform Based on the Sherpa 450: Unveiling the Guerrilla 450
The Guerrilla 450, developed on the Sherpa 450 platform, marks Royal Enfield’s second bike in this segment, representing the Himalayan lineage. Over the past few months, it has been spotted numerous times during testing. Spy shots reveal its appealing look with sharp lines, a muscular fuel tank, and minimal use of body panels. Sporting a sleek tail section, round LED headlight, and upswept exhaust, it resembles the Himalayan.
Why Royal Enfield Named Its New Bike Guerrilla?
The name “Guerrilla” hints at its focused nature, prepared to embrace the Himalayan model. Similar to the original Himalayan’s positioning, the Guerrilla 450 is based on the new Himalayan with a greater emphasis on off-road capability. Reflecting the guerrilla strategy theme, its sibling, the Himalayan, might be presented in modified styles such as camo and stealth paint schemes, equipped with knobby tires, wire-spoke wheels, and updated suspension for better traction in challenging terrains.
452cc Engine in the Guerrilla 450
Royal Enfield may equip the Guerrilla 450 with a 452cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, capable of producing a maximum power of 40.02 bhp at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 40 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed transmission, featuring a slipper-assist clutch as standard. Additionally, it will sport 17-inch alloy wheels controlled by an offset monoshock. Its braking system will include a dual-channel ABS system and rear disc brake.
Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450: Expected Pricing
Features in the Guerrilla 450 may include Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, switchable rear ABS, ride-by-wire throttle system, various ride modes, and a TFT instrument console with straight handlebars. It is estimated to be priced up to ₹2.50 lakhs in the showroom upon its market entry.
