BMW Motorrad is set to revolutionize the Indian adventure bike market with the imminent launch of the highly anticipated F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure motorcycles. Following a recent teaser, bookings for these new models have officially opened, creating a buzz among enthusiasts.
Replacing the popular F 850 GS and Adventure variants, the F 900 GS series is poised to offer a more refined and powerful riding experience. The standard F 900 GS is designed for those seeking off-road adventures, while the Adventure variant caters to long-distance touring needs.
Hardware and Features
Both models boast impressive hardware, with the F 900 GS weighing in at a commendable 219 kg, making it 27 kg lighter than its Adventure counterpart. The off-road-focused GS features a 21-17-inch spoke wheel setup with block-pattern tires, ensuring optimal traction in challenging terrain. Suspension duties are handled by manually adjustable USD front forks and a rear monoshock unit.
The F 900 GS Adventure, on the other hand, is geared towards touring, featuring road-biased tires and more substantial bodywork. Its 23-litre fuel tank significantly outperforms the standard model’s 14.5-litre capacity, allowing for extended journeys without frequent refueling. Additionally, the Adventure variant includes electronic suspension adjustment, providing a more customizable ride experience.
Both models are packed with features, including a 6.5-inch TFT display, multiple power and ride modes, ABS, bi-directional quickshifter, traction control, and more. These advanced technologies enhance safety, comfort, and overall riding enjoyment.
Engine Performance
Under the hood, both the F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure share a new 895 cc, twin-cylinder motor that delivers a potent 105 hp and 93 Nm of peak torque. This represents a notable increase of 10 hp and 1 Nm compared to the outgoing 853 cc models. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox for smooth and efficient power delivery.
Price and Availability
While the exact pricing for the F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure models remains to be announced, they are expected to be priced higher than their predecessors, the F 850 GS and F 850 GSA, which currently retail at Rs 12.95 lakh and Rs 13.75 lakh, respectively.
The introduction of the BMW F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure marks a significant milestone for the adventure bike segment in India. With their impressive performance, advanced features, and versatile capabilities, these models are set to captivate riders seeking thrilling off-road adventures and comfortable touring experiences.
