Yamaha, a pioneer in hybrid technology for Indian commuters with its Fascino and Ray ZR scooters, is set to electrify its popular FZ-X 150cc motorcycle. Alongside this exciting upgrade, the FZ-S is expected to receive a fresh coat of paint. Both models are likely to make their debut at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.
The FZ-X will receive a significant boost with the integration of hybrid technology. This will be achieved through an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), providing a subtle electric assist to enhance overall performance. As a result, the bike will also benefit from start/stop technology for improved fuel efficiency and a silent start function for a smoother riding experience. The current 149cc, single-cylinder engine, producing 12.4hp and 13.3Nm, can be expected to see a slight power increase.
Furthermore, the FZ-X will feature a sophisticated TFT display, offering modern connectivity features. Riders can expect to receive call and notification alerts directly on the instrument cluster, along with convenient music playback controls. New switchgear will be introduced to facilitate the operation of these additional functions. These advanced features are likely to be exclusive to the top-spec DLX variant, mirroring the setup found on the latest R15 models.
With these substantial upgrades, a price increase for the FZ-X is anticipated upon its launch at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo.
While the FZ-X undergoes significant changes, the FZ-S is expected to retain its core identity. However, it will receive a visual refresh with the introduction of new color options. One such color, a striking combination of grey and cyan, has been spotted and is already seen on the MT-15 and MT-03 models.
This update aims to further enhance the appeal of the FZ-X and FZ-S, solidifying Yamaha’s position in the competitive Indian motorcycle market.
