Ford’s New Ranger Super Duty: A Workhorse Revealed

Ford Ranger Super Duty teaser

Ford is set to introduce a new, heavy-duty version of the Ranger pickup truck, dubbed the Ranger Super Duty. This powerful new model is designed to cater to the needs of professional users, such as farmers, construction workers, and tradespeople.

The Ranger Super Duty will feature a significantly increased towing capacity of 4,500 kg (9,921 lbs), a substantial boost over the standard Ranger’s towing capacity. This enhanced towing capability, coupled with a higher gross vehicle mass (GVM) and gross combined mass (GCM), positions the Ranger Super Duty as a formidable workhorse.

To achieve this increased capability, Ford is likely to equip the Ranger Super Duty with a more powerful engine, potentially a twin-turbocharged V6. The truck will also feature a number of chassis and suspension upgrades to handle the additional load.

Visually, the Ranger Super Duty will differentiate itself from the standard model with a more aggressive front fascia, featuring a wider grille, a redesigned hood, and prominent fender flares. These design changes not only enhance the truck’s rugged appearance but also contribute to its increased functionality.

The Ranger Super Duty will be manufactured in Thailand and is expected to launch in Australia in 2026. While Ford has not confirmed plans for a US launch, the introduction of this heavy-duty variant highlights the growing demand for capable mid-size pickup trucks.
