Incessant rains in Gujarat have led to severe flooding in many districts, causing the Vishwamitri River to breach its banks. As a result, crocodiles from the river have been venturing into urban areas, creating a safety hazard for residents.
Forest department officials and NGOs have been working tirelessly to rescue these reptiles and relocate them to safer areas. However, a recent video has captured the attention of the internet, showcasing the extraordinary efforts of two Indian Medical Association (IMA) volunteers.
In the viral video, two volunteers are seen riding a scooter through the flooded streets of Vadodara with a crocodile, its mouth taped, held by one of the volunteers. The video has garnered praise and admiration from social media users, who have hailed the volunteers’ bravery and compassion.

While some users have suggested returning the crocodiles to the river, it’s important to note that the flooding has made their natural habitat unsafe. The forest department and NGOs are working to relocate the crocodiles to suitable areas where they can thrive.
In addition to the viral video, other footage has emerged showing crocodiles swimming through the Vishwamitri River, highlighting the extent of the flooding and the challenges faced by residents.
The rescue efforts have been ongoing, and at least 25 crocodiles have been rescued from different locations in Vadodara city in the past four days. One of the rescued crocodiles was a man-eater that had previously escaped from its enclosure at Sayajibaug Zoo.

The situation in Vadodara underscores the importance of wildlife conservation and the need for effective measures to protect both humans and animals during natural disasters. As the rescue operations continue, it is hoped that the crocodiles can be safely relocated and the situation can be brought under control.
