Uber Relaunches Premium Service Uber Black in Mumbai

Uber Black

Mumbai, India – Ride-hailing giant Uber has made a significant announcement, relaunching its premium service, Uber Black, starting with the bustling metropolis of Mumbai. This revival comes with a promise of a more luxurious and personalized ride experience, catering to the discerning needs of Indian customers, especially those traveling for business.

A Premium Experience at a Premium Price

Uber Black will be positioned above Uber Premier, the company’s current top-tier product, with fares expected to be 30-40% higher. This premium pricing reflects the enhanced features and services that Uber Black will offer.

One of the standout features of Uber Black will be the fleet of higher-end cars. Unlike its previous iterations, the relaunched service will prioritize luxury vehicles, ensuring a comfortable and stylish journey. Additionally, Uber Black will only feature top-rated drivers, guaranteeing a professional and courteous experience.

To further elevate the ride experience, Uber Black will offer personalized options. Riders will be able to enjoy quiet mode for a peaceful journey, control the temperature to their preference, and receive assistance with their luggage. Moreover, Uber Black will provide extended wait times and a generous five-minute pickup window without charging a waiting fee.

A Revival of a Classic

Uber Black was initially launched in 2013, offering a fleet of high-end cars like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. However, the service underwent changes over the years, eventually replacing luxury cars with more affordable options like Toyota Innova, Honda City, and Toyota Corolla.

Prabhjeet Singh, president of Uber India and South Asia, expressed excitement about the relaunch, stating, “We are thrilled to bring Uber Black back in an all-new avatar to meet the evolving aspirations of Indian customers and introduce the business class of back seats on Indian roads.”

Singh also acknowledged the current demand for premium ride-hailing services in India. “We’re fulfilling less than the total demand that we have on the platform because we still have fewer cars on the platform than would be required to fulfil the demand,” he told Economic Times.

Expanding Reach and Market Share

With over 1.1 million active drivers and a presence in 125 cities across India, Uber is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for premium transportation options. The relaunch of Uber Black is a strategic move to cater to the needs of discerning customers and solidify Uber’s position as a leading ride-hailing platform in the country.
