A man who was ready to catch his flight from Terminal 1 of Delhi airport recently took to Reddit to share what he called his “worst flight experience” ever. Along with his dissatisfaction with the flight, he also expressed frustration over the steep food prices at the airport.
In his Reddit post, shared on August 25, the man explained that he had arrived early at the airport, hoping to access the lounge. Unfortunately, he discovered that the lounge was under renovation, leaving him with no choice but to purchase food from a different store. According to him, the prices were exorbitant, with tea costing ₹200, coffee priced at ₹300, and a simple rajma rice meal going for ₹400. He also pointed out that there was no place to sit and eat near the food outlets, adding to his displeasure.
The experience did not improve when it came to his flight. The Redditor stated that his SpiceJet flight was initially delayed by an hour. However, after boarding, passengers had to wait an additional 30 minutes before the flight finally took off. Just as things seemed to be moving forward, passengers were informed at 12:30 PM that they had to disembark, as the flight would now depart at 2:45 PM.
Worst Flight Experience ever!

Since being posted, the Redditor’s complaint has garnered more than 600 upvotes and a plethora of comments, many of which empathized with his ordeal, while others offered suggestions for future travel.
One commenter wrote, “Are you traveling for the 1st time? These are pretty common rates at airports. T3 has a huge variety of food options, so you must have skipped that section and moved near your gate.” Another individual agreed that SpiceJet often has delays, stating, “Never travel with SpiceJet… From then on, I decided never to travel with this airline, even if it’s the cheapest option available.”
Some commenters, however, were unsympathetic to the high food prices, with one user saying, “You should bring food from home instead of crying about food prices at the airport. Airport food is expensive all over the world.”
Despite mixed reactions, the Redditor’s post has sparked a broader discussion on flight delays and airport food prices in India.
