NHAI’s recently implemented One Vehicle, One FASTag initiative aims to simplify electronic toll collection on national highways in India. Launched on April 1, 2024, this program tackles past issues with multiple FASTags linked to a single vehicle, ensuring smoother toll booth passages. If you’re a FASTag user, here are 9 key things to remember:

1. NHAI’s One FASTag per Vehicle

Each vehicle can only have one active FASTag linked to its registration number. Any additional FASTags associated with the same vehicle will be deactivated.

2. Recharge Anywhere

You’re not limited to recharging your FASTag through the issuing bank. You can conveniently top up your balance using any bank’s mobile app, net banking platform, UPI, or BBPS (Bharat Bill Payment System).

3. Check Your FASTag Status

Unsure how many FASTags are linked to your vehicle? You can easily verify this information by visiting the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) website or your FASTag issuer bank’s website.

4. KYC Completion Deadline Passed

The deadline for completing the FASTag KYC process as per RBI guidelines was March 31, 2024. Ensure your KYC is up-to-date for seamless FASTag functionality.

5. Incomplete KYC Alerts

If your FASTag KYC is incomplete, you’ll likely receive notifications via email, SMS, or your bank’s application. Follow the instructions to complete the KYC process.

6. Automatic Deactivation

After April 1, 2024, only the most recently activated FASTag for a particular vehicle will remain functional. Any previously active FASTags will be automatically deactivated.

7. Existing Balance Usage

Don’t worry if you have multiple FASTags with balances. You can continue using the existing balance until it reaches a “low balance” threshold, after which the FASTag will be blocked.

8. Issuance and KYC

When applying for a new FASTag, provide accurate information and complete the KYC process as mandated by the RBI. This helps prevent misuse and ensures smooth transactions.
