KTM Introduces Innovative AMT Gearbox

KTM AMT Gearbox

KTM has revolutionized the motorcycle industry with the introduction of its new Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). This groundbreaking technology combines the convenience of an automatic transmission with the performance and control of a manual gearbox.

The AMT offers riders the flexibility to choose between Manual Mode for a traditional shifting experience or Automatic Mode for effortless cruising. In Manual Mode, riders can shift gears using either the traditional gear lever or the paddle shifters. The AMT’s electronic control ensures quick and precise shifts, comparable to a traditional transmission with a Quickshifter+.

One of the significant advantages of the AMT is its ease of use. Starting on a slope, pulling away, stopping, and slow-speed maneuvering become much simpler, especially on larger motorcycles. The risk of stalling the engine is eliminated entirely.

The AMT features a P-N-1-2-3-4-5-6 gear sequence, with P denoting PARK. Shifting between PARK and NEUTRAL can be done using the paddle shifter on the handlebar, regardless of whether the engine is running.

The AMT’s SHIFTING modes can be customized to suit individual preferences and riding conditions. This technology will initially be available on selected KTM models, with more options to follow in the future.
