Volvo Cars is expanding its commitment to electric vehicle accessibility by opening access to over 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations in the U.S. and Canada. This move will benefit drivers of Volvo’s fully electric vehicles, including the flagship EX90 SUV, as well as the EX40 and EC40 models.
To enable charging at Tesla Superchargers and other NACS (North American Charging Standard) chargers, Volvo will include an adapter with the purchase of new EX90, EX40, and EC40 models starting from the 2025 model year. Existing Volvo EV owners can also purchase the adapter for $230 USD / $310 CAD.
To streamline the charging experience, Volvo Cars has integrated public charging station information into its app. Drivers can easily locate available charging points, get real-time updates, and pay for charging sessions directly through the app. Additionally, the Google Assistant in the infotainment system can provide charging station directions.
By expanding access to charging infrastructure, Volvo aims to make electric vehicle ownership more convenient and hassle-free for its customers. This move aligns with the company’s broader strategy of electrifying its entire lineup and reducing its carbon footprint.
