Mitsubishi is set to expand its European lineup with two new compact SUVs, both slated for a 2025 launch. These SUVs will be locally manufactured by Groupe Renault. One will be a fully electric vehicle (EV), while the other will offer both internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) options.
A recent teaser image showcased the two SUVs alongside Mitsubishi’s existing European models. The SUV on the left is believed to be a Mitsubishi version of the Renault Symbioz, closely related to the Mitsubishi ASX and Renault Captur. This is evident from their shared lighting signature and similar body dimensions.
The ICE/HEV model will be available with gasoline and self-charging hybrid powertrains. It will be built on the CMF-B platform, measuring approximately 4,413 mm in length.
The electric SUV, announced in December 2023, will be based on the Renault Scenic E-Tech. It will share the CMF-EV platform with models like the Megane E-Tech, Nissan Ariya, and Alpine A390. This Mitsubishi EV will feature a unique exterior design, particularly in the front LED lighting. It is expected to offer battery pack options of 60 kWh and 87 kWh, along with single-motor and dual-motor powertrains.
Both new SUVs will be equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and a Google-based infotainment system, similar to Renault’s OpenR system.
In terms of positioning, these new models will slot between the subcompact Colt and Captur-based ASX, and the plug-in hybrid Outlander PHEV. The latter recently received an update in Europe with improved efficiency and a larger battery, extending its combined range to 844 km.
