Mahindra is gearing up to launch two highly anticipated electric SUVs: the XEV 9e and the BE 6e. These two models will debut on November 26, 2024, marking a significant step forward for Mahindra’s electric vehicle lineup.
The XEV 9e and BE 6e will be built on Mahindra’s new INGLO platform, which is designed specifically for electric vehicles. Both SUVs will feature a stylish coupe-like design, setting them apart from traditional SUV silhouettes.
A Glimpse into the Future
A recent teaser video has offered a sneak peek into the design of both SUVs. Both models will adopt a stylish coupe-SUV body style, reminiscent of their concept versions. The BE 6e, previously known as the BE.05, boasts a sharp and aggressive design with distinctive elements like a pointed bonnet, C-shaped LED DRLs, and a sleek bumper. The XEV 9e, formerly called the XUV e9, features a more elegant design with inverted L-shaped connected LED DRLs and connected LED taillights.
The teaser also revealed a glimpse of the BE 6e’s interior, which showcases a modern and tech-savvy cabin. It features dual-integrated screens, a squared-off steering wheel, and striking red accents on the sunroof’s glass.
Expected Features and Performance
Based on previous spy shots and industry insights, the XEV 9e is expected to offer a range of advanced features, including a tri-screen setup, a 2-spoke steering wheel, multi-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, a premium audio system, and ventilated and powered seats. As a pure electric vehicle, it may also incorporate innovative technologies like vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality and multiple regeneration modes.
The BE 6e is anticipated to come equipped with a dual-integrated screen setup and the same 2-spoke steering wheel as the XEV 9e. It is likely to offer similar features like multi-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, and a premium audio system.
In terms of safety, both SUVs are expected to prioritize occupant protection with a standard six-airbag system, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Mahindra has yet to disclose the specific battery pack and electric motor configurations for both models. However, the XEV 9e is rumored to be available with 60 kWh and 80 kWh battery packs, offering a claimed range of up to 500 kilometers. The INGLO platform, which underpins both models, can accommodate both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) setups. The BE 6e is expected to be powered by a 60 kWh battery pack, providing an estimated range of around 450 kilometers. It too may be offered in both RWD and AWD configurations.
Pricing and Competition
The Mahindra XEV 9e is projected to be priced starting from Rs 38 lakh, while the BE 6e is expected to have a starting price of Rs 24 lakh. The XEV 9e will likely compete with the upcoming Tata Harrier EV and Safari EV, while the BE 6e is poised to rival the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the forthcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
