If you’re considering purchasing an electric car, it might be worth waiting a bit longer. The year 2025 promises to bring an array of exciting electric vehicle (EV) launches in India. Several leading automakers are preparing to unveil mass-market EVs, revolutionizing the country’s automotive landscape. Here’s a glimpse into the key models expected next year:
Hyundai Creta EV
Hyundai is set to unveil the much-anticipated Creta EV at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Auto Expo. This electric SUV is expected to feature a 45 kWh battery, offering a range of 450 km. Powered by a single electric motor delivering 138 bhp and 255 Nm torque, the Creta EV could start at ₹22 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
Maruti Suzuki will introduce its first electric SUV, the e Vitara, to rival Hyundai’s Creta EV. The model will feature two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh, with a range of 450–500 km. Built on Maruti’s Heartect-e skateboard platform, pricing is expected to align closely with the Creta EV.
Toyota Urban Electric SUV
Toyota plans to launch its version of the e Vitara, dubbed the Urban Electric SUV. Sharing the same powertrain and interior as the e Vitara, the key differentiator will be its exterior design. The launch is slated for late 2025.
Tata Harrier EV
Tata Motors, a dominant player in India’s EV market, will debut the Harrier EV at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo. This all-wheel-drive SUV will feature dual motors and a battery capacity of 60–80 kWh, offering a 500 km range. Pricing is expected to range between ₹25–30 lakh.
Tata Safari EV
Following the Harrier EV, Tata will introduce the Safari EV. It will share the same battery and powertrain components as the Harrier EV and is likely to launch a few months later.
Tata Sierra EV
The Tata Sierra EV, built on the new Acti.ev platform, is expected in the latter half of 2025. While its battery specifications remain under wraps, the Sierra EV is anticipated to deliver a range of 500 km and a price range of ₹25–35 lakh.
Mahindra BE 6
Mahindra will reveal the pricing of the BE 6 electric SUV at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo. Offered with 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery options, it promises ranges of 535 km and 682 km, respectively. The rear-wheel-drive SUV boasts 282 bhp and 380 Nm torque, starting at ₹18.9 lakh.
Mahindra XEV 9E
Accompanying the BE 6, Mahindra’s XEV 9E will share its battery options but deliver ranges of 542 km and 656 km. Pricing will begin at ₹21.9 lakh, with full details expected at the Auto Expo.
Kia Syros EV
Kia is expected to launch the EV variant of its Syros SUV in late 2025. Equipped with a 35–40 kWh battery, the Syros EV will offer a 400 km range and is likely to be priced under ₹20 lakh to compete with the Nexon EV.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
Lastly, Mahindra will introduce the XUV 3XO EV, an upgraded version of the XUV400 EV. With 34.5 kWh and 39.5 kWh battery options, pricing is anticipated to stay under ₹20 lakh. The launch date is yet to be confirmed.
As 2025 approaches, the electric car market in India is set to witness groundbreaking advancements, providing eco-conscious buyers with a plethora of choices.
