BMW’s iconic Mini brand has made a bold entry into the Indian market with the launch of two new models: the 4th generation Mini Cooper S and the all-electric Countryman. While the Cooper S sticks to its petrol-powered roots, the Countryman embraces the electric future, offering Indian consumers a choice between performance and sustainability.

The Mini Cooper S, priced at Rs 44.90 lakh (ex-showroom), is an evolution of the beloved hatchback. It retains the Mini’s signature charm while incorporating modern design elements. The new headlamps, taillamps, and octagonal grille give it a fresh look, while the minimalist interior and circular infotainment display bring a contemporary feel.

Under the hood, the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine has been tuned for more power and torque, delivering 201 bhp and 300 Nm respectively. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, the Cooper S promises a thrilling driving experience with a 0-100 kmph sprint in just 6.6 seconds.

Priced at Rs 54.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the Mini Countryman Electric marks a significant departure for the brand. Its bold new design, featuring distinctive headlamps, enclosed grille, and C-shaped taillamps, sets it apart. The interior is equally impressive, with a minimalist layout and a head-up display taking center stage.

India currently gets the single-motor Countryman E variant, offering 201 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Powered by a 66.45 kWh battery pack, it boasts a claimed range of up to 462 km. While the dual-motor ALL4 variant with its higher performance figures is unavailable in India, the Countryman E still offers a compelling package for eco-conscious drivers.

Both the Mini Cooper S and Countryman Electric represent a significant step forward for the brand in India. The Cooper S appeals to petrolheads seeking a fun and stylish car, while the Countryman Electric targets environmentally conscious buyers looking for a premium electric SUV. With their distinctive designs, impressive performance, and advanced features, these two models are set to capture the attention of Indian car enthusiasts.
