Ather Energy, a prominent electric scooter manufacturer in India, is making significant strides in its international expansion. Following the successful launch in Nepal last year, the company has now announced its plans to enter the Sri Lankan market.
In collaboration with Evolution Auto Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between Sensei Capital Partners, Atman Group, and Sino Lanka Private Limited, Ather will establish its first experience center in Sri Lanka during the upcoming quarter. This strategic partnership will see Evolution Auto serve as the national distributor for Ather Energy in Sri Lanka, overseeing sales, service, and the development of charging infrastructure.
Ather’s entry into Sri Lanka is a testament to its commitment to providing a robust network for customers. The company has already made significant inroads in Nepal, where it has established three experience centers and seven fast-charging grids. In India, Ather boasts a comprehensive retail network with 208 experience centers and 1973 fast-chargers as of March 31, 2024.
Commenting on the expansion, Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, expressed enthusiasm for the Sri Lankan market. “We are thrilled to enter Sri Lanka, which has been a part of our global expansion plans. Ather’s electric scooters are known for their performance, design, and reliability, and we believe they will resonate with new-age Sri Lankan customers who appreciate quality modern products. Our partnership with Evolution Auto will enable us to deliver the exceptional customer experience that Ather is renowned for, while also focusing on building a well-networked charging infrastructure for EV users.”
Zahran Ziyawudeen, CEO of Evolution Auto, echoed the excitement about the partnership, stating, “Our mission at Evolution Auto is to pioneer sustainable transportation in Sri Lanka. We are incredibly excited to collaborate with an industry giant like Ather Energy to launch a world-class range of scooters in Sri Lanka.”
Ather Energy’s entry into Sri Lanka marks a significant milestone in its journey to becoming a global leader in electric mobility. With a strong focus on customer experience and sustainable transportation, the company is well-positioned to make a substantial impact in the Sri Lankan market.
