At the 2025 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), Toyota unveiled the Kijang Innova BEV Concept, a design study that closely resembles the Innova Crysta currently available in the Indonesian market. This latest iteration of the BEV concept presents a slightly revised design compared to the version showcased by Toyota in Indonesia in March 2022.
The Innova BEV Concept shares a strong resemblance with the existing Innova Crysta, but subtle design cues differentiate the electric vehicle. The front fascia features a closed-off grille, redesigned LED headlamps connected by a DRL, and a revised bumper design. Multi-color graphics and 16-inch alloy wheels complete the exterior enhancements. Chrome door handles and dual-tone ORVMs with integrated turn indicators add to the premium look. The rear of the vehicle showcases uniquely designed wrap-around taillamps with connecting LED strips.
The interior layout of the Innova BEV concept mirrors the Innova Crysta familiar to Indian consumers. Physical buttons are present alongside a centrally positioned infotainment system. The instrument cluster features analog dials with a MID. Notable features include a wireless charger, ambient lighting, a dual-tone interior, middle-row captain seats, and rear-seat entertainment for second-row passengers.
Powering the Innova BEV Concept is a 59.3 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. Instead of a flat, floor-mounted battery pack, the battery modules are distributed, with smaller modules located under the floor and a larger unit positioned at the front in the engine bay. This configuration allows space for the charger at the rear of the vehicle. The electric motor delivers 134 kW (180 hp) and a substantial 700 Nm of torque.
Whether the Innova BEV Concept will progress to production remains to be seen. Its potential launch in Indonesia, or any other market, is currently uncertain.
