Honda Cars India has initiated a voluntary recall for over 92,000 units of its older models, including the City, Amaze, WR-V, BR-V, Brio, and Accord. This recall is due to a potential issue with the fuel pump impeller, which could hinder fuel flow to the engine, potentially leading to engine stalling or difficulty in starting.
Affected Models and Production Dates:
- City: September 4, 2017, to June 19, 2018 (32,872 units)
- Amaze: September 19, 2017, to June 30, 2018 (18,851 units)
- Jazz: September 5, 2017, to June 29, 2018 (16,744 units)
- WR-V: September 5, 2017, to June 30, 2018 (14,298 units)
- BR-V: September 26, 2017, to June 14, 2018 (4,386 units)
- Brio: August 8, 2017, to June 27, 2018 (3,317 units)
Additionally, around 2,204 units of various models, including the Civic, will also be inspected, as they may have been fitted with the faulty fuel pump as a replacement part.
What Should Owners Do?
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Check: Owners can verify if their vehicle is affected by entering the VIN on the Honda Cars India website.
- Dealer Notification: Honda dealerships are contacting affected customers directly.
- Free Repair: The fuel pump replacement will be carried out free of charge at authorized Honda dealerships starting from November 5, 2024.
Recommendation:
While Honda has not explicitly advised against driving the affected vehicles, it’s prudent to schedule the necessary repairs as soon as possible to ensure optimal vehicle performance and safety.
