Tata Motors is set to disrupt the Indian SUV market once again with its upcoming coupe SUV, the Curvv. Scheduled for launch in the coming month, the Curvv will be available in both electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) variants. While we’ve already unveiled details about the Curvv EV’s battery pack and range, it’s now time to shed light on the powertrain options for the ICE model.
Exclusive information reveals that the Curvv ICE will be offered with a trio of engine choices. These include a familiar 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit, a newly developed 1.2-litre GDi petrol engine, and a tried-and-tested 1.5-litre diesel motor. To complement these engines, Tata will provide both a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCA) gearbox across the range.
The star of the show is undoubtedly the new 1.2-litre GDi petrol engine. This powerplant is expected to deliver a punchy 123bhp and a healthy 225Nm of torque. The existing 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, borrowed from the Nexon, will produce 118bhp and 170Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the diesel engine is tuned to generate 113bhp and 260Nm of torque.
Like other Tata SUVs, the Curvv will feature three driving modes – Eco, City, and Sport – allowing drivers to tailor the car’s performance to their driving style.
With a compelling combination of engine options, gearboxes, and driving modes, the Tata Curvv ICE promises to offer a compelling package for SUV enthusiasts. Stay tuned for more updates as the launch date approaches.
