Renault’s Dacia Teases Bigster SUV, a Three-Row Off-Roader

Renault’s Romanian subsidiary, Dacia, has unveiled a teaser of its upcoming Bigster SUV, a larger and more versatile sibling to the popular Duster. Set to make its debut at the Paris Motor Show, the Bigster will offer three rows of seating and a significantly extended wheelbase compared to its predecessor.

Built on Renault’s CMF-B platform, the Bigster is expected to share components and features with the Duster. Under the hood, it will likely be powered by either a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine or a more powerful 1.6-liter turbocharged unit. To enhance its off-road capabilities, the Bigster will feature various terrain modes, including mud/snow, sand, off-road, eco, and auto.

While the Bigster will maintain the rugged appeal of the Duster, it will likely feature a slightly distinct design and interior layout. Renault may offer both six- and seven-seater configurations, along with additional features to cater to a wider range of customer preferences.

The good news for Indian car enthusiasts is that both the new-generation Duster and the Bigster are slated for launch in the country. The Duster is expected to arrive in mid-2025, while the Bigster could follow later that year or early in 2026. As was the case with the previous Duster, Nissan India will also introduce its own versions of both SUVs, likely with a slightly different design and branding.

The Renault Bigster will compete with models like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XUV700 in the three-row SUV segment. Meanwhile, the new-generation Duster will face competition from compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder.
