Mahindra’s launch of the feature-packed XUV 3XO has seemingly spurred the segment leader, Tata Nexon, to also consider a panoramic sunroof. This is based on a recent video showing a Nexon in a factory equipped with this very feature.
XUV 3XO effect?
Replacing the XUV300, the XUV 3XO was launched with a host of cutting-edge features and was also aggressively priced for the introductory phase. These factors combined explain why Mahindra received over 50,000 bookings for its new SUV for less than ₹4 million in the first hour after opening its order book.
The launch of the Mahindra XUV 3XO could have been part of the Nexon’s development plan all along. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if Tata accelerated the schedule for introducing this feature in response to the competition.
Other updates expected for the Tata Nexon also include the addition of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which are currently offered only on the XUV 3XO but also on the Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue.
Current Nexon Features:
The current Nexon offers a host of features including sequential LED daytime running lights with hello/goodbye function, 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, air purifier, wireless charger, and JBL-powered audio system. The current Nexon model already comes with a voice-activated single-panel power moonroof.
Expected Launch:
The video of the Tata Nexon with panoramic sunroof seems to have leaked from the production line, speculating that the updated Nexon could be launched soon. It will continue to compete with other competitors in the segment such as Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and the upcoming sub-4 meter Skoda SUV.
Another Nexon update that was officially launched at the Bharat Mobility Expo in February 2024 is the inclusion of a CNG powertrain. The Nexon CNG is expected to be launched later this year and will directly compete with the Maruti Brezza CNG variants.
