7-seater family cars have long been a popular choice among Indian car buyers, reflected in their strong sales figures. These vehicles are prized for their spacious interiors, practicality, efficiency, and high resale value. With many options already available, four new models are poised to be launched in the market. Let’s explore the key details of these upcoming 7-seater family cars.
Hyundai Alcazar Facelift
The Hyundai Alcazar Facelift, a three-row SUV, is expected to receive a facelift update and hit the Indian market in September or October 2024. This updated model will boast slight improvements to the design and interior, while retaining the existing engine configuration. Most of the changes will be focused on the front, featuring new split-pattern LED headlights and a Creta-inspired grille. Spy images suggest the inclusion of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Similar to the new Creta, the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar facelift will likely feature a dual-screen setup with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch instrument console. The interior layout and engine options are expected to remain unchanged.
Jeep Meridian Facelift
The Jeep Meridian is also expected to receive a facelift and hit the market later this year. The changes will likely be minor and cosmetic, including updates to the grille, front bumper, and potentially silver accents around the fog lamp housing. A new ADAS radar module might be integrated into the central air intake.
The facelift Meridian is expected to retain the features of the previous model, such as the 9-speaker Alpine audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, connected car technology, panoramic sunroof, 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and wireless charging for mobile phones. The 2024 Jeep Meridian facelift will likely continue with the same 170 hp 2.0-liter diesel engine with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
New Generation Kia Carnival
The fourth-generation Kia Carnival is set to go on sale in India during the festive season of 2024. This MPV will sport a bolder front with a new grille featuring chrome accents, vertical headlights with L-shaped DRLs, and a slightly updated bumper with a small air intake and an aluminum protective plate. The rear will showcase an L-shaped design where the taillights will be connected by an LED light bar. The rear bumper will likely have decorative elements in silver and matte black plastic. The interior design is expected to be minimalistic and include two 12.3-inch screens, updated audio and climate controls, front and rear dash cameras, a rotary gear selector, a digital rearview mirror, a head-up display (HUD), an updated digital key, and ambient lighting. In India, the 2024 Kia Carnival is expected to retain the same 2.2-liter 201 hp turbodiesel engine with automatic transmission.
New Generation Toyota Fortuner
India’s best-selling premium 7-seater family car, the Toyota Fortuner, is getting a generational update. The new model is expected to reach the global market by the end of 2024, with an Indian market launch anticipated in early 2025. The 2024 Toyota Fortuner will be built on the TNGA-F platform, which is also used for the new Toyota Tacoma, Land Cruiser 300, and Lexus LX500d. This platform can accommodate both internal combustion engines and hybrid powertrains. The biggest change will be the introduction of a hybrid powertrain featuring a 2.8-liter diesel engine combined with a 48V setup and an electric motor-generator. This hybrid system is expected to deliver a combined output of 201 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The SUV is likely to be offered with both RWD and 4WD drivetrain options. In terms of features, the new Fortuner is expected to boast ADAS technology, a vehicle stability system, and a hydraulic steering system.
