Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the undisputed leader in the Indian automobile market, is gearing up to launch three exciting new cars in the coming months. This move underscores the brand’s commitment to innovation and catering to the evolving needs of Indian car buyers. Let’s delve deeper into the details of these upcoming Maruti Suzuki offerings:

1. Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG: Green Mobility for the Hatchback Champion

The ever-popular Maruti Suzuki Swift, which recently received a generation upgrade in India, is all set to embrace green mobility with the introduction of a CNG variant. Expected to debut in the second half of 2024, the Swift CNG will be the first Maruti Suzuki model to feature the new 1.2-liter K12E three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with a CNG option. While the power output might decrease slightly due to CNG, the car is anticipated to deliver impressive fuel efficiency figures exceeding 32 km/kg. This translates to significant cost savings for drivers, making the Swift CNG a compelling proposition in the budget-conscious Indian market. The CNG variant is likely to carry a premium of around Rs. 90,000-95,000 over the standard petrol-powered Swift.

2. New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire: A Sedan with Added Flair

Hot on the heels of the Swift, Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the new-generation Dzire in July 2024. This compact sedan will share its platform, powertrain, and many features with the new Swift, offering the benefits of familiarity and proven technology. However, the Dzire will boast a longer wheelbase for enhanced cabin space and a more spacious boot, making it a practical choice for families. While the front fascia is expected to resemble the Swift, the Dzire will likely sport a unique rear-end design to distinguish itself from its hatchback sibling.

The new Dzire will draw power from the same 1.2-liter K12E petrol engine found in the Swift, generating 80.46 bhp and 111.7 Nm of peak torque. Recent spy shots have revealed the presence of a sunroof in the upcoming Dzire, making it the first car in its segment to offer this desirable feature. Additionally, the Dzire will likely come equipped with modern amenities like automatic climate control, keyless entry, cruise control, and a large 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

3. Maruti Suzuki eVX: Ushering in the Electric Era

Maruti Suzuki is making a bold statement by entering the electric vehicle (EV) segment with the much-anticipated eVX. This all-electric SUV, expected to launch by the end of 2024, will be built on a new, dedicated electric vehicle platform that paves the way for future Maruti-Toyota electric collaborations. The production-ready eVX will have a length of approximately 4.3 meters and a generous wheelbase of 2700mm, translating to a spacious and comfortable cabin.

Maruti Suzuki has revealed plans to offer the eVX in two battery pack options: a 48 kWh unit with a claimed range of around 400 kilometers and a larger 60 kWh battery promising a range of up to 550 kilometers on a single charge. This caters to a wider range of driving needs, with the larger battery pack offering peace of mind for longer journeys. With its competitive pricing and spacious design, the Maruti Suzuki eVX is poised to take on established players like the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Nexon EV, and Mahindra XUV400 EV in the Indian electric SUV market.

Maruti Suzuki’s three upcoming car launches cater to a diverse range of buyers. The Swift CNG offers a budget-friendly and eco-conscious option, the new Dzire provides a comfortable and feature-rich sedan experience, and the eVX marks the brand’s exciting entry into the electric vehicle segment. With these new offerings, Maruti Suzuki is well-positioned to maintain its leadership role in the Indian automobile market.
