In response to the falling demand for small cars in India, Maruti Suzuki has announced a new Dream Edition variant for three models – Alto K10, S-Presso, and Celerio – all priced at Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This brings the price of Celerio down by Rs 38,000 as the entry-level LXI currently costs Rs 5.37 lakh.
For the Alto K10, the Dream Edition will slot between the mid-range LXI (Rs 4.84 Lakh) and VXI (Rs 5.06 Lakh) variants, while the Dream Edition variant of the S-Presso will slot between the entry-level standard (Rs 4.27 lakh) and LXI (Rs 5.02 lakh).
“We are focusing on the entry-level segment of small cars based on feedback from our target customers. We are launching a Dream Edition with additional benefits to convince customers. This will be available only in June,” said Partho Banerjee, Director, Sales and Marketing, Maruti Suzuki India Limited.
The Limited Dream Edition models will also get more features, including reverse parking safety systems and upgraded infotainment systems.
In May 2024, sales of small cars (including models such as S-Presso, Baleno, Celerio, Ignis, and the new Swift) were 78,108 units compared to 83,655 in May 2023. Maruti’s total domestic sales for the month rose to 146,694 units compared to 146,596 in May 2023, corresponding to a growth of just 0.1 per cent.
The industry total stood at 350,257 units in May 2024, up 4.4 per cent from 335,436 units in the same period last year.
