Mahindra, India’s leading SUV manufacturer, is gearing up to launch its most ambitious vehicle yet: the Thar Roxx. Positioned below the Scorpio N in the lineup, the Thar Roxx will enter the compact SUV segment, distinguishing itself as the only genuine “SUV” SUV in India with an approximate length of 4.3 meters.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Unveiled
Recent leaks reveal significant details about the Thar Roxx, including its advanced 4G platform, which is a lighter, more refined version of the 3G platform used in the Scorpio N. This new platform is about 40 kg lighter, enhancing both performance and efficiency.
The Thar Roxx shares several components with the Scorpio N, such as the multi-link rear suspension with Frequency Dependent Damping technology and an independent double wishbone front suspension, optimizing its off-road capabilities.

Off-Roading Features
The Thar Roxx is set to surpass the 3-door Thar in off-road performance. It will come with an electronic brake locking differential, electronic locking differential, and various terrain modes, including Snow, Sand, and Mud. Unlike the Scorpio N’s shift-on-the-fly system, the Thar Roxx will use a traditional mechanical 4X4 lever for a more authentic off-road experience.
New features include Crawl Smart Assist (CSA), which maintains a speed below 30 km/h without throttle input, and Intelli Turn Assist, which helps take tighter turns by locking the inner rear wheel at speeds under 15 km/h with the electronic locking differential disengaged.
Powertrain Options
The Thar Roxx will offer engines from the Scorpio N and XUV700. The base petrol variant will feature a 2.0-liter turbo engine producing 160 bhp and 330 Nm, with higher-spec variants delivering 175 bhp and 380 Nm. Diesel options will include the Gen 2 mHawk 2.2-liter engine, with 150 bhp and 350 Nm in lower-spec variants, and 172 bhp and 370 Nm in higher-spec variants. Both engines will be paired with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. The Thar Roxx will offer RWD in base variants and 4X4 in mid to top-spec trims, with top-end variants potentially featuring an electronically locking differential.
