Kia has unveiled the all-new Syros, a compact SUV designed to compete in the highly competitive sub-4-meter segment in India. Positioned as a larger and more technologically advanced sibling to the popular Sonet, the Syros boasts a distinctive design, a spacious interior, and a comprehensive feature list.
Design:
The Syros showcases a bold and futuristic design with strong influences from Kia’s electric vehicle lineup. Key design elements include a boxy front end with vertically stacked LED headlights, a sealed-off “Tiger Nose” grille, and dramatic LED DRLs. The side profile emphasizes a “tallboy” stance with blacked-out pillars creating a floating roof effect. Rugged cladding and unique alloy wheels contribute to its robust and stylish appearance. At the rear, distinctive L-shaped tail lights wrap around the windshield, completing the eye-catching design.
Interior:
The Syros offers a premium cabin experience with a tech-focused dashboard featuring dual 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster, complemented by a 5-inch climate control display. The interior is further enhanced by ambient lighting, a two-spoke steering wheel, and concealed AC vents.
Passenger comfort is prioritized with ventilated seats for all occupants, sliding and reclining second-row seats, and a powered driver’s seat. A panoramic sunroof adds to the sense of spaciousness and allows occupants to enjoy the view.
Features:
The Syros is packed with advanced features, including wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a premium Harman Kardon 8-speaker sound system, and Level 2 ADAS for enhanced safety. Other notable features include a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake, and over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
Powertrain:
The Syros offers a choice of two engines: a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 120 horsepower and a 1.5-liter diesel engine delivering 116 horsepower. Both engines are available with manual and automatic transmission options, with the petrol variant also offering a 7-speed DCT with paddle shifters.
Competition:
The Syros will directly compete with established models in the segment, including the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Maruti Brezza. Kia aims to differentiate the Syros through its spacious rear seats, extensive feature list, and distinctive design.
Availability:
Bookings for the Syros will commence on January 3, with deliveries expected to begin in early February. Pricing details will be announced closer to the launch date.
The Syros represents Kia’s ambition to further strengthen its presence in the Indian market with a compelling offering in the highly competitive sub-4-meter SUV segment.
