Nissan, Honda, and Mitsubishi Motors have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore the possibility of Mitsubishi Motors’ participation in the proposed business integration between Nissan and Honda. This potential collaboration aims to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the three Japanese automakers.

Following the initial agreement between Nissan and Honda to establish a joint holding company, the three companies have initiated discussions to evaluate the potential benefits of Mitsubishi Motors’ involvement in this ambitious undertaking.

Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida emphasized the significance of Mitsubishi Motors’ participation, stating, “We anticipate that if this integration comes to fruition, we will be able to deliver even greater value to a wider customer base.”

Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe echoed this sentiment, highlighting the potential for enhanced social impact and the creation of new mobility solutions through a broader collaboration.

Mitsubishi Motors CEO Takao Kato expressed his commitment to exploring the best form of cooperation to maximize synergies and leverage the strengths of each company.

The three companies will now delve deeper into the potential avenues for collaboration, with Mitsubishi Motors aiming to finalize its decision on participation by the end of January 2025. This move signifies a significant step towards a potentially transformative partnership that could reshape the competitive landscape of the global automotive industry.
