To celebrate signing MS Dhoni as their brand ambassador, Citroen will launch special editions of the C3 and C3 Aircross this month, inspired by the cricket legend. These vehicles will sport exclusive decals and accessories.
Following the trend of special editions, the changes will be cosmetic only, with no modifications to the mechanics. The C3 and C3 Aircross will retain their 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, offering 109bhp/190Nm in the manual transmission (MT) version and 109bhp/205Nm in the six-speed automatic transmission (AT) version. The MT variant is also expected to offer the option of a naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine in lower-specification models.
The association between cricketers and car brands has a long history in India, with players endorsing both budget-friendly and luxury carmakers like Audi and BMW. This marks MS Dhoni’s first collaboration with an automobile manufacturer in his nearly two-decade-long cricketing career for India across various formats. Given the broad appeal expected, we can also anticipate a Basalt version upon the car’s launch in the latter half of this year.
