Citroen Basalt

Citroen is set to shake up the budget car segment with the upcoming launch of its Basalt on August 2nd. The new model promises to bring significant enhancements that will eventually trickle down to the rest of the brand’s lineup.

A recent teaser has revealed that the Basalt will sport a contemporary interior featuring a single-zone climate control system with intuitive toggle switches. This design is expected to be adopted by the popular C3, eC3, and C3 Aircross in the near future. The car will also boast a familiar 10-25-inch touchscreen and digital instrument cluster, mirroring the tech-forward cabin of the C3 Aircross.

Comfort and safety are key priorities for Citroen, with the Basalt offering headrests with side support, front and rear armrests, and dual cup holders in the rear. In a major safety upgrade, Citroen has announced that all its cars will come equipped with six airbags as standard by the end of the year, setting a new benchmark for the industry.

Under the hood, the Basalt will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine generating 109bhp and 215Nm of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.

As the fourth model under Citroen’s C-Cube program for India, the Basalt is poised to make a strong impact on the market. With its stylish design, advanced features, and enhanced safety, the Basalt is shaping up to be a compelling option for budget-conscious car buyers.
