India’s automotive landscape is set to witness another exciting addition tomorrow, August 9, 2024, as Citroen India unveils its much-awaited Basalt coupe SUV. This stylish newcomer is the fourth model under the company’s C-Cubed program and is poised to directly rival the Tata Curvv.
Powertrain Options
The Basalt will be available with two petrol engine options:
- A 1.2-liter, naturally aspirated 3-cylinder engine generating 82hp and 115Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
- A more powerful 1.2-liter, turbocharged 3-cylinder engine producing 110hp and 190Nm (manual) or 205Nm (automatic) of torque, coupled with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Design and Aesthetics
While the front fascia of the Basalt shares a resemblance with its siblings, the C3 and C3 Aircross, it boasts distinctive grille inserts and a chrome-lined Citroen logo. The side profile showcases stylish 17-inch alloy wheels and pronounced wheel arches, contributing to the SUV’s bold stance. At the rear, the Basalt flaunts a distinctive coupe-like silhouette with wraparound taillights and a chunky silver skid plate.
Interior Comfort and Features
The Basalt’s interior echoes the familiar layout of the C3 and C3 Aircross, featuring a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other notable features include LED projector headlamps, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and rear AC vents with adjustable thigh support.
Bookings and Deliveries
Bookings for the Citroen Basalt are expected to commence simultaneously with its launch tomorrow, with deliveries anticipated to start shortly thereafter.
With its striking design, competitive powertrain options, and a host of modern features, the Citroen Basalt is poised to make a significant impact in the Indian SUV market.
