The Dacia Duster, a popular subcompact SUV, has received its third-generation makeover in early 2024. While tuners have been slow to unleash their creativity on the Romanian best-seller, German dealer Carpoint, renowned for its special edition Dacia models, has taken the initiative. They’ve unveiled renderings of their tuned-up Dacia Duster III, dubbed the Carpoint Edition, showcasing a sporty and aggressive transformation.
A Visual Feast
The Carpoint Edition Duster boasts a wide body kit that includes front and rear bumper extensions, flared fenders, a hood scoop, and new door garnishes. While the materials used for these add-ons remain undisclosed, they certainly outshine the stock Duster’s 20 percent recycled plastic cladding with a more flashy appeal. Red accents strategically placed throughout the bodywork further enhance its aggressive look.
Wheels and Suspension
The Duster’s stance is dramatically altered with massive 20 or 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in ultra-low-profile tires. The lowered suspension significantly reduces the Duster’s class-leading ground clearance, sacrificing some off-road capability for a more sporty appearance.
Performance Upgrades?
While Carpoint hasn’t disclosed any performance upgrades, they’ve hinted at “a few secrets” that will be revealed soon. It’s hoped that the extensive visual enhancements will be complemented by a substantial power boost and chassis modifications to match the upgraded aesthetics.
Powertrain Options
The current most potent powertrain in the new Dacia Duster lineup is the self-charging hybrid, delivering a combined output of 138 hp. However, the mild-hybrid 1.3 TCe with 128 hp might be a more suitable choice, especially considering its availability with all-wheel drive. The Carpoint Edition’s powertrain remains to be confirmed.
A Look into the Future
As Carpoint continues to unveil details of their Duster project, we can expect to see the tuning kit hit the market at a reasonable price. Their track record of customizing Dacias to owner specifications, along with their offerings of complete vehicles with pre-installed kits, makes them a trusted name in the tuning community.
The Dacia Duster III Carpoint Edition is a testament to the versatility and popularity of the Romanian SUV. With its aggressive styling and potential performance enhancements, it’s set to appeal to those seeking a more dynamic and visually striking version of the Duster.
