2025 Toyota Yaris GR Sport: New Color, New Wheels, Same Performance

Toyota Yaris GR Sport

Toyota has unveiled updates for the Yaris GR Sport, featuring a fresh color option, redesigned wheels, and refined GR Sport emblems in the cabin. These changes, though minor, aim to enhance the appeal of this sporty hatchback as it enters the 2025 model year.

The fourth-generation Yaris debuted in 2019, with the GR Sport trim following in 2021. In 2023, the entire Yaris lineup underwent a mild facelift, which explains the limited scope of updates for 2025. It’s important to distinguish the Yaris GR Sport from the high-performance GR Yaris, which features a bespoke platform, a more powerful engine, and an advanced all-wheel-drive system.

New Color and Wheel Design

For 2025, the standout addition is the exclusive “Storm Grey” color, available in both monotone and bi-tone versions with a contrasting black roof. Enhancing its sporty aesthetic, the GR Sport now sports newly designed 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with a matte finish, adding a sleek and aggressive touch.

Interior Enhancements

Inside, changes are subtle but noticeable. The GR Sport emblems are now embossed on the headrests, complementing the red stitching and Gun Metal Gray accents already present. The 10.5-inch infotainment display and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) introduced during the previous facelift remain unchanged, continuing to offer a modern and tech-forward driving experience.

Updates to the Standard Yaris

The broader Yaris lineup sees only one update for 2025: the addition of a “Forest Green” color option. Other than this new shade, no further alterations have been made to the non-GR Sport variants.

Powertrain and Performance

Beneath the surface, the 2025 Yaris GR Sport retains its hybrid powertrain. Buyers can choose between the Hybrid 115, producing 114 hp (85 kW), and the Hybrid 130, generating 129 hp (96 kW). Both options use a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with dual electric motors in a self-charging hybrid system. The GR Sport trim exclusively features the more powerful Hybrid 130 engine.

The GR Sport also benefits from unique Gazoo Racing tuning, including revised dampers, reworked rear springs, additional underfloor bracing, and sharper steering calibration, all of which contribute to a more dynamic driving experience compared to the standard Yaris.

Production and Pricing

Production of the 2025 Toyota Yaris and Yaris GR Sport is slated to begin in February. While official pricing has not yet been announced, it is expected to remain similar to the current model’s pricing. Further details will be revealed closer to the vehicle’s market launch.

In summary, the 2025 Toyota Yaris GR Sport offers subtle but meaningful updates that refine its sporty appeal, ensuring it remains a competitive option in the hybrid hatchback segment.
