In a groundbreaking move, India Kawasaki has officially launched the highly anticipated 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator in the Indian market. This urban cruiser, first showcased globally in June 2023, has finally hit our shores, captivating motorcycle enthusiasts with its blend of style, power, and innovation.
A Glimpse Into the Design
The Eliminator’s design is nothing short of mesmerizing, adopting a classic cruiser silhouette that draws inspiration from the renowned Vulcan 650. Dressed in a striking Metallic Flat Spark Black, this urban cruiser emanates a neo-retro vibe, showcasing a round LED headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a distinctive megaphone exhaust. The design prioritizes rider comfort, featuring a wide one-piece handlebar and neutral footpeg position for a relaxed and upright riding posture.
Frame and Ergonomics
Built on a new lightweight trellis frame, the Eliminator’s silhouette pays homage to older motorcycle designs, resulting in a remarkably low seat height of 734 mm. This thoughtful design caters to shorter riders, ensuring better accessibility. The suspension system comprises a 41-mm telescopic fork at the front and a twin-shock setup at the rear, providing a smooth and controlled ride. The cruiser rolls on 18-inch front and 16-inch rear 10-spoke alloy wheels, with a tire profile of 130/70-18 at the front and 150/80-16 at the rear.
Modern Technology Meets Classic Charm
The Eliminator seamlessly blends modern technology with classic charm through its circular LCD instrument panel. This panel not only adds a touch of modernity but also offers a plethora of features, including a digital speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, coolant temperature, maintenance reminder, gear position indicator, clock, odometer, two trip meters, range, and Bluetooth connectivity. Riders can stay connected through the Rideology app, receiving calls and notifications effortlessly.
Safety Features Redefined
Safety takes center stage in the Eliminator, boasting dual-channel ABS, smartphone connectivity, slip-and-assist clutch, and Kawasaki’s ergo-fit technology. This technology allows riders to customize seat height and footpeg placement, ensuring an optimal and personalized riding experience.
The Heart of the Beast
Powering the Eliminator is a robust powertrain derived from the Ninja Z400, a 399 cc parallel-twin unit modified to achieve a 451 cc displacement by increasing the stroke length by 6.8mm. This powerhouse generates 44 bhp at 9000 rpm and 46 Nm of peak torque at 6000 rpm, offering an exhilarating and responsive ride. The engine is seamlessly coupled to a 6-speed transmission and an assist-and-slipper clutch, enhancing the overall riding dynamics.
The Competitive Landscape
In the Indian market, the 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator enters a fierce competition, challenging rivals such as the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 and the Harley-Davidson X440 in terms of displacement. With its unique blend of design, technology, and performance, the Eliminator stands poised to make a mark in the urban cruising segment.
