Triumph Motorcycles has expanded its lineup in the Indian market with the introduction of the Speed T4. Positioned as the brand’s most affordable offering in India, the Speed T4 is priced at Rs 2.17 lakh (ex-showroom) and is based on the popular Speed 400.
Modern Classic Design:
The Speed T4 maintains the neo-retro design language of the Speed 400, featuring a round headlamp, a similar fuel tank, and a long single-piece seat. The footpegs and handlebar are positioned for a comfortable and relaxed riding posture. The bike is available in Metallic White, Cocktail Red Wine, and Phantom Black color options.
Shared Components:
Sharing a significant number of components with the Speed 400, the Speed T4 features the same chassis but with telescopic front forks instead of the upside-down forks found on the Speed 400. The rear end is supported by a gas monoshock with preload adjustability.
Brakes and Wheels:
Braking duties are handled by a 300 mm fixed disc at the front with four-piston calipers and a 230 mm fixed disc at the rear with a floating caliper. Both discs are mounted on 17-inch wheels, which come wrapped in Apollo Alpha H1 or MRF Steel Brace tires.
Engine and Performance:
The Speed T4 is powered by a 399 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 30.6 bhp of power at 7,000 rpm and 36 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm. Triumph claims that the engine has been tuned for low-end torque, with 85 percent of the peak torque available at 2,500 rpm. This power is transmitted to the wheels through a 6-speed gearbox.
Conclusion:
The Triumph Speed T4 offers a compelling blend of style, performance, and affordability. With its modern classic design, comfortable riding position, and capable engine, it’s well-suited for both urban commuting and weekend getaways. The Speed T4 further expands Triumph’s presence in the Indian market and provides a more accessible option for riders looking to experience the brand’s iconic heritage.
