Kawasaki is gearing up to introduce its KLX 230 S dual sport motorcycle in the Indian market. Recent sightings of test mules suggest that the bike is being extensively tested on Indian roads, indicating a high level of localization. This should contribute to a competitive pricing strategy for the Indian market.
The KLX 230 S was initially launched in international markets in early 2024 with several updates. These updates include a revised subframe for increased wheel travel and a new seat design. While the seat height remains manageable at 830mm, the bike benefits from improved ground clearance. It features a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, both equipped with dual-purpose tires. Disc brakes are fitted on both the front and rear for reliable stopping power.
Powering the KLX 230 S is a 233cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is expected to produce 19 horsepower and 20.3 Nm of torque.
The bike’s styling is practical and minimalist, with minimal body panels. It features a compact headlight with a cowl, a high-mounted mudguard, a small fuel tank, and a stubby tail. Kawasaki is likely to offer the KLX 230 S in two color options: Kawasaki Green and Grey.
In terms of pricing, the 2024 Kawasaki KLX 230 S is expected to be priced around Rs. 2 lakh, positioning it competitively with the Hero Xpulse 200 4V.
