Ducati Unveils Limited Edition Monster Senna to Honor F1 Legend

Ducati Monster Senna

Ducati has launched a special edition of the Monster model to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the death of Brazilian Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna.

This motorcycle, called “Monster Senna”, is available in limited quantities, specifically being 341 units worldwide. The number “3” is the number of Formula 1 world championship titles Senna achieved, and 41 is his overall Grand Prix victory count.

“Monster Senna is proof of how honorable it is for us to define a champion of this exceptional level as a true Ducatista,” said Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, according to the company’s official website on Saturday, May 18th.

This bike has a special look with its yellow, green and blue livery representing the Brazilian flag, as well as the iconic helmet motif worn by Ayrton Senna during his racing career.

In addition, Monster Senna boasts a dynamic character, weighing up to 175 kg, or 4 kg less than its standard version. Additionally, Ducati has also developed optimal control for this iron horse.

The Monster Senna has a functional chassis inspired by Ducati superbikes and is equipped with fully adjustable Öhlins suspensions, Tempa wheels and a state-of-the-art braking system with Brembo Stylema front caliper and aluminum brake disc extensions.

This engine performance is backed by a liquid-cooled 4-valve 2-cylinder Testastretta engine, which can deliver up to 111 hp of power and offers driving pleasure at the highest level.

Another privilege of this motorcycle is that Ducati presents it with the triple clamp engraved with the model name and unit number of the motorcycle, as well as a certificate of authenticity.

Relations between Ducati and Senna

Ducati maintained a close relationship with this Brazilian rider throughout his life. In 1990, Claudio Castiglioni, then owner of Ducati and also a fan of Ayrton Senna, gave him an 851 SP motorcycle.

Over time, Ducati and Senna have shared characteristics that make their relationship closer, giving rise to special collaborations between the two.

One of the results of the collaboration between Senna and Ducati is the birth of the 916 Senna motorcycle, featuring a livery personally selected by the Brazilian rider, with contrasting graphics between anthracite, black and bronze gray. This iconic model was limited to 300 units.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Ayrton Senna was also one of the first owners of the Monster 900 motorcycle, with which he toured the Monte Carlo region and participated in a gala evening at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1993.

Ayrton Senna tragically lost his life after an accident during the San Marino Grand Prix at the Imola circuit on May 1, 1994, marking a dark day in Formula 1 history.

Born on March 21, 1960, the driver won the world title three times, in 1988, 1990 and 1991. He is also known for his heated rivalries with other French F1 legends, including four-time world champion Alain Prost.
