BSA has unveiled its latest offering, the B65 scrambler, which is based on the popular Gold Star 650 platform. This new motorcycle, showcased at the Birmingham Motorcycle Live Show, retains the core mechanical components of the Gold Star while incorporating a range of styling tweaks to give it a rugged and adventurous appeal.
A Rugged New Look
The B65 boasts a distinctive design with a round headlamp, a prominent beak-style front fender, a bench seat, and number plates on the side panels. These elements contribute to its scrambler aesthetic, while the tank cover and round mirrors are carried over from the Gold Star.
Shared Mechanicals
The B65 shares many of its mechanical components with the Gold Star 650. It features a 41mm telescopic front fork and a twin-shock rear suspension setup with preload adjustability. Braking duties are handled by a 320mm front disc with Brembo calipers and a 255mm rear disc, both with dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, shod with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires. With a weight of 218 kg and a seat height of 820 mm, the B65 is slightly heavier and taller than the Gold Star.
Familiar Powertrain
Under the hood, the B65 retains the 652cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from the Gold Star. This engine produces 45 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 55 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
Global and Indian Launch
The B65 is set to go on sale overseas in 2025, with bookings already open in the UK. While there’s no official confirmation yet, it’s highly likely that BSA will introduce the B65 to the Indian market as well. If launched in India, the B65 will directly compete with the Royal Enfield 650 Twins, particularly the Scrambler 650.
