Brixton Storr 500: A New Adventure Tourer Finally Headed to Production

Brixton Motorcycles, known for its retro-inspired motorcycles, has been working on an adventure tourer model called the Storr 500. While the initial plans were to launch it in Europe and other markets in 2023, some issues with its distributor delayed the production. However, the Storr 500 is now set to go into production soon, with a European launch on the horizon.

A Chinese-European Collaboration

Like many European-Chinese collaborations, Brixton Motorcycles are designed in Europe and manufactured in China by Gaokin Moto. The Chinese version of the Brixton Storr 500 has already been produced at the Gaokin factory and is available for sale in China. The European version is expected to follow shortly.  

Unique Design and Styling

The Storr 500 boasts a distinctive design language that seems inspired by the Husqvarna Norden 900. Closer to home, its styling bears a striking resemblance to the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 but with more elaborate body panels. Key design elements include a large fuel tank and a fairing panel that connects the tank to the headlamp.

Chassis and Suspension

Underneath the stylish exterior, the Storr 500 is underpinned by a tubular steel frame and a separate sub-frame. Suspension duties are handled by upside-down front forks and a linked monoshock at the rear. It rides on 19/17-inch tubeless wire-spoke wheels, wrapped in knobby Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires.

Engine and Performance

Powering the Storr 500 is a 486cc, parallel-twin motor that is a clone of Honda’s 471cc engine. This liquid-cooled mill produces 47 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 43 Nm of peak torque at 6,700 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox.

India Launch Plans

While it’s too early to confirm if the Storr 500 will make its way to India, Brixton Motorcycles has announced plans to launch four bikes in the Indian market in the coming months. Although the specific models have not been revealed, the Storr 500 could be a strong contender in the Indian adventure tourer segment, competing with the likes of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure.
