An IndiGo pilot from Tamil Nadu, Pradeep Krishnan, recently captured hearts online with his endearing attempt to make an in-flight announcement in Hindi. The light-hearted moment occurred during a flight from Chennai to Mumbai and has since become a viral sensation, clocking over a million views on Instagram.
The incident began when a passenger requested that the pilot deliver the announcement in Hindi. Krishnan, known for his dedication to passenger comfort, took on the challenge with enthusiasm. In a reel posted on Instagram, Krishnan is seen making the announcement with a distinctive South Indian accent that added a charming touch to his words.
“Namaskar, mera naam Pradeep Krishnan hai. Mera first officer ka naam Bala hai. Hamara lead ka naam Priyanka hai. Hum aaj Chennai se Mumbai jaayenge, 35,000 mein udayenge, pura distance 1,500 kms hai, pura time one hour ek ghante thirty minutes hai, jaane ke turbulence hoga, hum seat belt daalenge, main bhi daalenge. Dhanyawad,” Krishnan said. This translates to: “Hello, my name is Pradeep Krishnan. My first officer is Bala. Our lead’s name is Priyanka. We are flying from Chennai to Mumbai at an altitude of 35,000 feet, covering a distance of 1,500 kilometres in one hour and thirty minutes.”
Krishnan’s Instagram post captioned, “A very sweet passenger asked me to make an announcement in Hindi. Indha vechuko! I genuinely tried,” reflects his humble and good-natured approach to the request.
The pilot’s effort was met with widespread admiration on social media. Comments ranged from appreciation of his attempt to humorous reactions about his accent. One user remarked, “That’s the sweetest announcement,” while another quipped, “This is hilarious.”
Some users even wished they could have witnessed the passengers’ reactions in person, with one commenter expressing, “You should have taken a video of the passenger’s expressions. Missed it. I wish I had been there on this flight.”
