Tata’s Upcoming Launches: Curvv Coupe SUV & Nexon CNG Get Closer to Launch

Tata Nexon CNG

If you list the most anticipated car launches in India in 2024, Tata Curvv is quite up there. It has attracted a lot of interest among enthusiasts due to its stylish coupe offering. Recently, apart from the Tata Nexon i-CNG, Tata Curvv test mules were also seen, which had size differences and many similarities. We’ll take a look.

Tata Curvv and Nexon CNG spied together

Curvv is a coupe-style SUV that is likely to turn heads. It looks like a real European car and stands out in the sea (9 vehicles) of compact, square-shaped SUVs and oozes a lot of character. Without a doubt an expression of individual character. It’s based on the Nexon and when you look at them side by side you can see it.

Tata Motors unveiled a near-production version of the Curvv at the Bharat Mobility Show 2024. The Curvv is expected to measure 4,308 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,630 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,560 mm and a trunk of 422 liters. It is 313mm longer, 6mm wider, 10mm taller and has a 62mm longer wheelbase. The extra size indicates when Curvv and Nexon are next to each other. Especially in the rear, where the coupe’s roofline is. In the Curvv doors we find a more muscular profile in addition to the new recessed handles. The Nexon test mules are an i-CNG variant, which will also be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024.

Interestingly, this particular Curvv test mule doesn’t appear to have a regular panoramic sunroof. Similar to the fixed glass roof of the Curvv EV concept and Curvv ICE patent images. However, the ICE Curvv launched at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024 featured a double-glazed sliding roof. Tata may offer the option to choose between a fixed glass roof or a traditional sliding roof.

The Nexon i-CNG test car in the spy photos will be equipped with a two-cylinder CNG kit developed by Tata. It is unrivaled in the Indian CNG car segment and offers an attractive CNG configuration with a flat and usable boot. It is also worth highlighting features such as CNG starting, continuous shifting and other features. Nexon i-CNG will be India’s first turbo-petrol-CNG combination.

Nexon-type interiors with Harrier-type elements

Inside, Curvv will share its dashboard as well as the entire interior layout and door panels with Nexon. However, it has some loans from premium vehicles like Harrier and Safari. For example, the larger 12.3-inch touch screen, larger 4-spoke steering wheel, electronic parking brake and other attributes. Expected features also include dual-zone automatic climate control and a HUD.

As for powertrains, Curvv will initially be launched with electric and diesel fuel options and the petrol option is expected to follow soon. We expect the Curvv EV to have a single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD configuration. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is the same as the Nexon (113 PS and 260 Nm), and the Curvv’s Nexon petrol engine will have more powerful output (125 PS and 225 Nm).
