Velocifero, an Italian electric two-wheeler brand, has made its debut in India with the launch of the VLF Tennis. Priced at Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tennis is a compact and lightweight electric scooter.
KAW Veloce Motors, the Indian partner of Velocifero, will be responsible for the assembly and distribution of the Tennis in India. The company plans to set up 20 dealerships across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities by mid-2025. The Tennis will be assembled at KAW Veloce Motors’ facility in Kolhapur, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 units. Deliveries of the Tennis are set to commence on November 25th.
The VLF Tennis is a lightweight scooter, tipping the scales at just 88 kg. It features a compact design with 12-inch wheels and a seat height of 780 mm. The scooter’s suspension setup includes a telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes on both wheels.
Powering the Tennis is a 2.5 kWh removable battery pack that promises a range of up to 130 kilometers (IDC). The scooter is equipped with a 1.5 kW hub motor that propels it to a top speed of 65 kmph. The Tennis boasts a gradeability of 18 degrees and can operate in temperatures ranging from -5 degrees Celsius to 45 degrees Celsius.
KAW Veloce Motors will provide a 720-watt charger with the Tennis, which can fully charge the battery in approximately three hours. The scooter also features modern amenities like LED lighting and a 5-inch color TFT instrument cluster.
Priced at Rs 1.30 lakh, the VLF Tennis is positioned at a premium price point compared to other electric scooters in the Indian market, such as the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Vida V1, and Ather 450X, which offer larger battery capacities and longer ranges.
