Approximately 15 days ago, the Bengaluru police launched this initiative on an experimental basis in the east division of the city. The focus of the drive initially centered on IT company staff members who were found riding two-wheelers on the wrong side of the road. The enforcement drive is currently in full swing along Bengaluru’s information technology corridor, falling under the purview of the Mahadevapura traffic police division. Notably, the initiative targets a specific three-way junction notorious for persistent wrong-side driving, despite previous enforcement efforts.

Clement Jayakumar, General Secretary of Mahadevapura Task Force-Mobility, sheds light on the challenging scenario, stating, “There have been multiple enforcement drives in the particular junction for many years, but nothing seemed to have worked out as of now. It’s a three-way junction, where there is a lot of wrong-side driving, and despite catching and fining violators, it still seems to happen frequently. The area has also become a spot for traffic accidents.”
