Ather Energy, known for its electric scooters, launched its smart helmet, the Halo, in April 2024. Initially priced at Rs. 13,000, it was offered at an introductory price for the first 1,000 customers. However, due to underwhelming response, the company has now reduced the price to Rs. 10,000, offering a discount of Rs. 3,000.
While the Halo boasts impressive features, the price reduction suggests that the initial response might not have been as strong as expected. Despite its advanced technology, the helmet faces competition from other options that offer similar safety features at a lower price point. For instance, riders can purchase ECE 22.06-certified helmets, known for their superior protection, at a price significantly lower than the Halo.
However, the connectivity features offered by the Halo are truly noteworthy. It features two Harman Kardon speakers integrated into the internal liners, delivering a music listening experience without completely blocking out ambient sounds. When connected to a smartphone, the helmet also allows riders to receive calls.
The Halo connects seamlessly with Ather scooters via Bluetooth, enabling riders to control music and take calls using the scooter’s switchgear. The helmet’s built-in sensors automatically connect it to the user’s smartphone once it’s put on, offering a convenient and hands-free experience.
The charging mechanism for the Halo includes a wireless module, ensuring a hassle-free charging process. The battery is claimed to last for a week on a single charge. Additionally, the helmet can be charged inside the new Rizta scooter’s boot using the same wireless charger, providing added convenience for Ather scooter owners.
In conclusion, while the Halo offers advanced features and connectivity, the price reduction indicates that it may face challenges in the market. While its safety features and connectivity options are impressive, riders seeking a more affordable and protective option may consider other helmets available in the market.
