Ola Electric Announces Gen 3 S1 Price Hike After Introductory Period

Ola Electric began taking reservations for its Gen 3 S1 range on January 31st, with deliveries expected to start in mid-February. The lineup includes the S1X, available with 2 kWh, 3 kWh, and 4 kWh battery options, initially priced at Rs. 79,999, Rs. 89,999, and Rs. 99,999, respectively. The S1X+ with a 4 kWh battery was launched at Rs. 1,07,999. The S1 Pro was introduced at Rs. 1,14,999 for the 3 kWh and Rs. 1,34,999 for the 4 kWh version. Ola Electric announced that these were introductory prices, and most, but not all, were indeed raised within a week.

The base S1X with a 2 kWh battery remains at the launch price of Rs. 79,999. However, the 3 kWh S1X now costs Rs. 93,999 (a Rs. 4,000 increase), and the 4 kWh version is now Rs. 104,999 (a Rs. 5,000 increase). The S1X+ (4 kWh) is now priced at Rs. 1,11,999, up Rs. 4,000. The top-tier S1 Pro+ with the 4 kWh battery continues at Rs. 1,54,999, while the 5.3 kWh version is priced at Rs. 1,69,999 (all prices ex-showroom). The S1 Pro saw the largest price jump: the 3 kWh variant increased by Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 1,29,999, and the 4 kWh model is now Rs. 1,44,999, a Rs. 10,000 increase.

The S1X, S1X+, and S1 Pro all feature a mid-drive motor, chain drive system, upgraded seating, and brake-by-wire technology. The S1 Pro, offered with 3 kWh and 4 kWh battery options, offers similar performance to the S1X+. The new S1 Pro+ distinguishes itself with dual-channel ABS, rim decals, a two-tone seat, and a die-cast grab handle. Its most significant upgrade is a 13 kW motor paired with a 5.3 kWh battery, delivering a claimed IDC range of 320 km and a top speed of 141 kmph. It accelerates from 0-40 kmph in 2.1 seconds and is available in six colors: white, red, black, silver, dark blue, and light blue.

Overall, the Gen 3 models boast a 53% power increase to 13 kW, a 10% improvement in energy efficiency, and a reported 31% reduction in production costs.
