MG Motor has expanded its Comet EV lineup with the introduction of the Blackstorm edition, a special variant showcasing a striking black and red aesthetic. This new model, positioned as the top-tier offering within the Comet range, follows the trend of special editions seen in other MG models like the Gloster, Hector, and Astor.
The Comet EV Blackstorm edition distinguishes itself through its distinctive all-black exterior and interior theme, punctuated by vibrant red accents that lend a sporty edge to the compact electric vehicle. While the core features and battery specifications remain consistent with the fully equipped Comet EV, the Blackstorm edition introduces a unique visual identity and a minor audio upgrade.
Design Highlights
The Blackstorm edition maintains the familiar silhouette of the Comet EV, but adopts a “Starry Black” color scheme. A key visual element is the strategic use of red accents, including red lettering for the “Morris Garages” branding on the front, red surrounds for the fog lamps and skid plate, and red outlines on the blacked-out alloy wheels. Silver accents are also present near the headlamps and along the connected LED light strip. Body cladding on the sides further incorporates red inserts, contributing to the car’s dynamic appearance.

Interior and Features
Despite the predominantly black exterior, the interior retains some beige elements on the door panels, dashboard, and center console. The seats are upholstered in black leatherette with contrasting red stitching, and the front headrests feature “Blackstorm edition” red embossing. The Blackstorm edition carries over the dual 10.25-inch screen setup, supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, alongside features like a multi-function steering wheel, USB ports, LED headlights, connected car technology, and electronically adjustable ORVMs. Notably, the Blackstorm edition exclusively features a four-speaker sound system.
Safety features remain consistent with the standard Comet EV, including dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, rear parking sensors, TPMS, rear-wheel disc brakes, a rearview camera, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, hill hold assist, and a digital key with sharing functionality.
