India has long been associated with budget-friendly sedans and SUVs, but Mahindra is shaking things up with its latest offerings—the BE 6e and XEV 9e. These fully electric coupe-SUVs feature cutting-edge technology and sleek, futuristic designs, and are set to arrive in Indian dealerships by 2025.
Visually, the BE 6e and XEV 9e closely resemble the concept models revealed in 2022. The BE 6e sports a bold and aggressive look with sharp lines and ultra-slim LED lighting, while the larger XEV 9e adopts a more refined, yet still modern, aesthetic. Both SUVs share a wheelbase of 2,775 mm (109.3 inches) but differ in overall size. The XEV 9e is the longer of the two, measuring 4,790 mm (188.6 inches) compared to the BE 6e’s 4,371 mm (172.1 inches), positioning them in different market segments.

Interior Innovation
Inside, the BE 6e offers a fighter jet-inspired cockpit, featuring dual 12.3-inch screens and an augmented reality (AR) heads-up display. Ambient lighting reminiscent of “Tron,” gaming chair-style seats, and unique “pull to open” door straps enhance the futuristic feel. The BE 6e provides a 455-liter boot and an additional 45-liter frunk.
The XEV 9e elevates luxury with three 12.3-inch screens, a panoramic illuminated roof, premium materials, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos. Its extended rear design allows for a spacious 665-liter boot and a 150-liter frunk.
Advanced Engineering and Performance
Both models are built on Mahindra’s INGLO electric platform, featuring rear-wheel drive, semi-active dampers, five-link rear suspension, and brake-by-wire technology. Powering these EVs are single electric motors offering either 228 hp (170 kW) or 282 hp (210 kW), capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7–6.8 seconds.
Battery options include 59 kWh and 79 kWh LFP packs, likely sourced from VW Group. The larger battery enables a range of up to 550 km (342 miles) for the BE 6e and 533 km (331 miles) for the XEV 9e under WLTP standards. Fast charging capabilities allow the battery to go from 20% to 80% in under 20 minutes using a 175 kW charger.
Smart Features and Safety
Mahindra’s Artificial Intelligence Architecture, powered by the Adreno GPU and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, manages the SUVs’ smart features. Safety systems include seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras, blind-spot monitoring, and remote parking.
Pricing and Availability
The BE 6e starts at Rs 18.90 lakh (approximately $22,400), while the XEV 9e begins at Rs 21.90 lakh (around $25,900). Deliveries are expected to commence between February and March 2025. The BE 6e will rival the Tata Curvv EV, while the XEV 9e will compete with the Tata Harrier EV and Safari EV. Mahindra plans to further expand its EV lineup in 2025 and 2026 with additional BE and XEV models.
