Kia is making significant strides in the electric vehicle market, and its upcoming EV4 model is generating considerable buzz. Available in both sedan and hatchback versions, the EV4 aims to appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers, offering a choice between sleek styling and practical versatility. Combining futuristic design, advanced technology, and Kia’s EV expertise, the EV4 is poised to make a mark in the competitive EV landscape.
Design and Styling:
The EV4 sedan presents a sporty yet sophisticated aesthetic. Its striking lines, intricate details, and flowing profile create a modern and elegant look. The front fascia features a reimagined “Tiger Nose” grille flanked by vertically arranged LED headlights, while the side view is highlighted by a gently sloping roofline that seamlessly blends into the rear. The GT-Line trim level enhances the sporty appeal with more aggressive bumpers and distinctive 19-inch triangular alloy wheels.
The EV4 hatchback caters to those prioritizing practicality. Sharing design DNA with the larger EV6, the hatchback incorporates unique elements, including a sharply sculpted front end, prominent black cladding, and a contrasting roof. A bold black spoiler and redesigned taillights dominate the rear, giving it a distinct identity. The hatchback configuration offers enhanced versatility without sacrificing style.

Platform and Performance:
The EV4 rides on the Hyundai-Kia Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the same platform used for the EV6 and EV9. While specific powertrain details are still under wraps, the EV4 is expected to offer a range of battery options, possibly including 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh packs. Both single-motor (front-wheel drive) and dual-motor (all-wheel drive) configurations are anticipated, providing choices for various driving needs.

Interior and Features:
Although Kia has yet to reveal the full interior, a spacious cabin, premium materials, and a technologically advanced dashboard with dual screens for infotainment and instrumentation are expected. Kia’s latest software innovations, along with a suite of driver-assistance systems, should deliver a contemporary and connected driving experience.

Market Positioning and Launch:
Positioned below the EV6 in Kia’s EV lineup, the EV4 is likely to be a more accessible option. While Kia India has trademarked the EV4 name, the launch timeline for the Indian market remains uncertain. Globally, the EV4 is expected to compete with models like the Volkswagen ID.3 and Hyundai Kona Electric.
More comprehensive details, including specifications, pricing, and market rollout plans, are expected to be revealed at Kia EV Day on February 27, 2025.
